Garden party ideas

Garden parties are a fantastic idea when the weather is still warm, but cool enough to relax in your own backyard. Invite your friends around for casual drinks, divine food and great conversation and sure enough, your garden party will be a hit!
There are so many ways to go about planning a garden party, depending on what food, drinks or even a theme that you might consider. Of course, the first tip to be considered is obviously to tidy up your garden before embarking on your outdoor get together.
If your garden is covered in grass, or some form of lawn, make sure to give it a quick cut before the party! Generally a day or two before the party so the cut lawn settles and you avoid that green stain on your clothes, and that fresh cut grass and lawn mower oil smell from emanating and disturbing your guests.
The next step is to plan ahead of the weather forecast. A good tip is to ignore the weather forecast and plan some sort of cover for the weather outside. It’s almost like Murphy’s Law, if the forecast says the weather will be fine, it will probably rain!
An outdoor temporary gazebo is a fantastic idea to protect from the weather. They can easily be ordered, made to your specifications and taken down after the party. They’re a great addition to a garden, and tend to add just a little bit of extra class. Try considering a gazebo as creating an extra room outdoors, to break up the vast space and give your guests some place else to move around the garden. Try placing the appetizers and drinks underneath the gazebo, to have some sort of protection from the outside world – bugs, leaves and weather in general.
The next thing you’ve got to consider is the type of food you’re preparing for your guests. Don’t just decide haphazardly which appetizers, main meal and dessert you’re going to serve. It’s a great idea to have a theme to all the food that you’re preparing. This ties together the food, and makes the whole meal seem cohesive in the culinary sense.
Some great suggestions are a themed meal. For example, a Chinese themed meal. Dim-sims, spring rolls, and Chinese barbequed duck pieces for the starters, then the option of chicken and corn Chinese soup, and a variety of other Chinese meals for the main meal that can easily be found in cook books or on the internet. Finish with something like deep fried ice cream or any of the other desserts that the theme suits.
Keep the drinks served interesting and try to keep to the theme! If you’re basing your food or decorations on a certain nationality, then try and find beer or wine from that country too. This makes the party interesting and usually a new experience for all your guests at the party, making it an event never to forget!
Garden parties are a fantastic way to get together with your friends, experience new food and drink, as well as bask in the atmosphere that you yourself can create. With themed food, drink and sometimes decorations too your guests will surely enjoy your party, and make it a day, afternoon or night to remember!
